About Us

Our Story

We're Adel and Libby, the co-founders of adbra. adbra is a London-based small business. We were inspired to start the company after we experienced the benefits that particular self-help tools and techniques brought to our daily lives. We read, researched and practised many theories before deciding which to focus on, in our range. We wanted to be able to share those experiences and benefits with as many people as we could.

We began creating mindfulness and sustainability challenge jars from home and have gone on to develop positive affirmation and gratitude products which we're extremely excited to share with you.

Today we work from London and Adel's home city of Warsaw in Poland with an amazing team who are just as passionate about mental health as we are.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting our small business!

Our Values

At adbra we strive for a good experience for both our customers, contractors, and partners. We proudly support people as individuals and strive to create accessible products and processes that can help as many people as possible.

Values that we believe matter are:

Fairness - we strive to provide a flexible and comfortable working environment for our contractors and service providers. This applies to pay, working hours, and reasonable adjustments for disability and neurodiversity.

Kindness - we work to support people, at whatever stage they are in their mental health journey. We are conscious in our communication to avoid toxic positivity or shame, believing everyone's feelings matter.

Simplicity - it's important to us that our tools and resources are simple and accessible so that they help people with different learning styles and educational backgrounds.

Environment - we want to make sure we're not using unsustainable materials that will harm the planet. We've detailed more about this and our impact below.

Sustainable Development

As business owners we believe in sustainable development and that creating social impact through the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals should be the way everyone does business.

Health & Well-being

At adbra, we are striving for good health and well-being for all under SDG 3. We're focused on target 3.4: By 2030, reduce by one third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being.

Our Impact

Our products are designed around proven techniques to improve mental resilience. Through our website and social media channels, we provide mental health support information and contacts for key services.

In February 2021 we donated 1500 positive affirmation cards, a selection of tea and handmade organic cotton bags to be distributed to frontline health workers as self-care packages by a local community group in East London.

In October 2021 we donated 35 gratitude planners and gratitude jars to a state school in East London. Founder Libby also spent 6 months volunteering for the school's Special Educational Needs department in 2020.

Both adbra founders have been active volunteers for mental health charities OCD action and Mental Health Mates, supporting those with mental health challenges nationally.

Sustainable Consumption

By focusing on the growth of our handmade production range we are striving for sustainable consumption and production under SDG 12. We're focused on target 12.5: By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.

Our Impact

We have worked hard to ensure where possible, that the materials used in our products are plastic-free to reduce our impact on the environment in manufacturing and at end of life.

We use glass, recycled paper, kraft card, kraft gift boxes & jute twine to do this for our best-selling product, our 30 day challenge jars. We make them by hand in our small studio.

We calculate and offset our carbon footprint of the manufacturing of our planners and activity cards through tree planting projects with Certified Emission Reductions (CERs.) We are always looking to reduce our carbon impact so that we don't always resort to off-setting.

We recognise the challenges in accurate carbon usage calculations and always overestimate usage. We have so-far offset 25 tonnes of carbon dioxide - February 2021.
